GRANT EDWARDS

MUSIC DIRECTOR / ORGANIST

uccmusic@comcast.net

Grant Edwards has graced our church with stunning organ musical art for over 26 years! In 2019, he added Music Director to his title and is deeply involved with helping to build deep and spirit-filled worship experiences.

Grant holds a BA in Organ from Lewis & Clark College. Grant has studied at the Ludwig-Maxmillians-Universitat in Munich and as a Deutsche-UNESCO scholar in Weimar, East Germany. Active in the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists, Grant is currently that organization's Sub-Dean and chair of the Program Committee.

He regularly creates and performs original compositions for our worship services and has written compositions for very popular special events. Grant has performed for three National Conventions of the Organ Historical Society, and in 2003, he recorded an eclectic album, Musical Feast, (ProOrgano CD7181) at St. Stephen's Episcopal, Seattle.

On top of everything else, Grant is also an organ builder! He has been a craftsman at Bond Organ Builders since 1993. In collaboration with Bond, he constructed the organ in our sanctuary, incorporating mechanical portions of the original 1951 instrument as well as an ornate 1877 organ case.

Grant loves to engage with others about the transformational possibilities of music. If you have any questions about our music program, or if you just want to chat-up Grant about music in general, you can reach him at: uccmusic@comcast.net
