Weddings at First

We are an open and affirming Church: We welcome members and non-members to exchange vows of commitment and will work with you to plan a celebration for vows tailored to
your relationship and preferences.

The Sanctuary

With its sweeping Gothic architecture, the sanctuary is tailored towards acoustics. It is warmly ornamented in beautiful hardwood and elaborate stained glass windows, and features spiral staircases to reach balcony seating. Our historic organ and baby grand Steinway piano rest on an elevated platform at the front of the hall.

The Chapel

Used for smaller ceremonies (40 people or fewer), our chapel has two rows of pews with a center aisle leading to a small chancel. Lovely rose-colored windows with Gothic arches adorn the western wall. This space also has a baby grand piano for accompaniment, if desired. The Chapel is charming in its modesty and ideal for those couples who would like to plan a simple, intimate wedding.

Venue Information, Fees, and Services

Construction of our current church building and 175-foot bell tower began in 1891 and was completed in 1895, with stained glass windows installed in 1906.  It was designed by Swiss architect Henry J. Hefty to resemble the Old South Church in Boston.  The building is considered to be one of the few examples of Venetian Gothic architecture in the United States. Modern updates to our elevator and sound system have made our existing building a more equitable space. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns regarding accessibility.
