Our commitment to openness and inclusivity requires transparent information about accessibility— not only in our space, but also in our communications and other opportunities for spiritual connection. If you find we have overlooked an issue regarding accessibility or have further questions, please email our office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
First Congregational UCC has two public entrances:
Our offices and conference room are located at 1137 SW Broadway. Our regularly staffed office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Mondays through Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.
Our church building, where we gather for worship, reflection, meetings, workshops, and community events, is located at 1126 SW Park Ave. This entrance can be accessed by a few stairs or a wheelchair ramp (on the right side as you face the building). Except for community events, our Park Ave. entrance is regularly open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Tuesdays to Fridays, and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
While our historic building contains many levels, our sanctuary, fellowship hall, and basement classrooms are all accessible by elevators and lifts. There is an elevator to the sanctuary, and a lift down into the fellowship hall. An elevator to the lower level classrooms is located in the east hallway.
The lower level of our sanctuary has designated wheelchair-accessible seating, while the balcony level of the sanctuary is accessible by two flights of stairs and is only open during speaking events and concerts.
Listening Devices: During worship, we use several speakers to amplify our voices; for those who need or prefer to hear the service via a listening device, we have several available. See an usher for more information.
Large Print Bulletin: We use a print bulletin to guide our worship. Large print bulletins are available, just ask an usher if you’d like to use one!
We know that a full-length worship isn’t for everyone. Please feel free to come and go from the Sanctuary as needed during the service.
ADA accessible restrooms are located off the east side of the fellowship hall. A gender-neutral single-occupancy bathroom is located off the north side of the fellowship hall. More bathrooms are located downstairs near the classrooms and nursery.
Our call is to cultivate opportunities for grounding & peacemaking, connection & community, and spiritual justice-seeking. We send notice of these gatherings, marches, workshops, and outreach projects via our weekly email, our bulletin announcements, our website, and social media.
Our weekly email shows what’s going on in our Church life this week, including information about the upcoming Sunday service, events happening in the Church, and events in the larger community that align with our core ministries. Email email@example.com if you have an event you’d like to share with our community.
You can find basic information about our Church and community on this website. Our events page may be a good item to bookmark if you’d like to become more involved with us! You can learn more about how to get involved by visiting our Core Ministries page.
We use social media to send out immediate notices to our community and to counter the deluge of advertisements with simple reminders of spiritual connection.
